In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking powder and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, with an electric mixer, beat together the butter, the ½ cup granulated sugar, the brown sugar, the egg and the maple syrup.

Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and stir until combined.

Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

Preheat the oven to 375F.

Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.

In a small bowl mix together the sugar and cinnamon for the coating.

Using a 1 tablespoon size scoop divide out the dough and roll it into balls.

Roll the cookie dough balls in the sugar/cinnamon mixture and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared cookie sheet.

Bake for 8-10 minutes, until set. Edges will be lightly browned and centers will look slightly undercooked.

Allow the cookies to cool on the cookie sheet for 2-3 minutes before removing them to a wire rack to cool completely.
