Ingredients
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 large onion finely diced
  • 5 cloves garlic finely diced
  • 2 28 ounce cans San Marzano DOP Tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 pound pasta
  • Fresh basil for garnish
  • Parmesan Cheese for garnish
Instructions
  1. Blend San Marzano Tomatoes in a blender or using an immersion blender until smooth; set aside.

  2. In a large saucepan, heat the extra virgin olive oil over medium heat until warm. Add the onions, garlic, and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring regularly until softened.
  3. Add the blended tomatoes and a generous pinch of salt and pepper.
  4. Bring the sauce to a boil, then turn heat to low. Cover and let simmer for about 20 to 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Once the sauce has thickened, stir in butter and finely sliced basil.
  6. Make pasta according to the package instructions.
  7. Toss pasta with sauce and sprinkle with more basil and parmesan cheese, if desired.
