Biscuit Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients
Biscuits-
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cold butter grated
  • 1 egg lightly beaten
  • 1 ¼ cup buttermilk cold
Filling-
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
Frosting-
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons milk
Instructions
Biscuit Cinnamon Rolls-
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9x9 inch square pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Grate 2 sticks of cold butter with a cheese grater. Toss with flour mixture.
  4. Add lightly beaten egg and buttermilk to the butter/flour mixture and mix until just combined.
  5. Turn dough out on a lightly floured surface and knead just until dough comes together.
  6. Roll dough out into a large rectangle, about ¼ thick.
  7. Spread softened butter over dough and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Beginning with the side closest to you, role up dough and pinch edge together to seal.
  9. Cut into 9-12 slices and place in prepared pan.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until tops begin to golden.
Glaze-
  1. Beat or whisk together softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
  2. Pour over warm rolls.
  3. Serve warm or at room temperature.
