Liege Waffles and Giveaway #6

  • cups flour (I used unbleached flour)
  • 1 package dry yeast (2 ½ tsp)
  • ¾ cup lukewarm milk
  • 8 oz . softened butter (2 sticks)
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 bag (8 oz.) Belgian Pearl Sugar
  1. Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm milk.
  2. In a large bowl, Gradually add all the ingredients to the flour, except for the pearl sugar.
  3. Place down in a warm dark spot, cover with a warm damp cloth and let the dough double in size (about 30 minutes).
  4. When dough has doubled in size heat your waffle iron.
  5. Knead in pearl sugar to dough.
  6. Cut dough into 8-10 pieces and gently roll.
  7. Place dough balls onto each side of the waffle iron (they will not be perfectly round, but that's how they are supposed to be).
  8. Bake in the waffle iron for about 5 minutes or until a caramelized color.
  9. Carefully remove waffles as the sugar is hot!!
  10. Wait about 5-10 minutes to eat otherwise you will scald your mouth!
  11. Enjoy with milk!
